For more than 25 years, Glennwood Urbz has used spoken word poetry to inspire, challenge, and connect with audiences throughout Birmingham and beyond. Known for his powerful performances and dedication to community outreach, Urbz believes that words have the power to heal, educate, and save lives.
As a representative of Love Shooter Lounge and a longtime spoken word artist, Urbz recently participated in a community event honoring the legacy of Glenn’s Sacrifice of the Griggs Foundation. The event focused on raising awareness about mental health, a topic that remains difficult for many families and communities to discuss openly.
“We kind of push it under the rug,” Urbz explained. “People be going through things, and sometimes they just need somebody to listen, to express themselves, and release the thoughts that’s bothering them.”
For Urbz, mental health advocacy is deeply personal.
